Even for the least style-savvy guys out there, curly manes need some styling. If you have curly hair and are wondering how to style them, here is a brief guide for you to help you get started.
Styling Your Curly Manes
Step # 1 – Manage Your “Pooing” Frequency
In general, the first step to styling your curly hair is to reduce your frequency of hair washing. Make sure you wash your hair once every 3-4 days. It’s even better if you reduce your shampoo frequency to once a week, as it will reduce your risk of drying out your hair and help control both frizz and dandruff.
Step # 2 – Apply Product
Once you have washed your hair, you need to apply styling products which can include anything from styling gels to hair creams and hair butter. Take a small amount of product and work it between your hands to warm it up slightly, then apply to damp hair.
Step # 3 – Divide Your Hair and Twist
As you apply the styling product, don’t forget to divide your hair into sections and simply twist and scrunch up your curls so you get the natural curl pattern. You may need to rewet your hair and apply additional styling products at this step.
Step # 4 – Let Your Hair Air Dry
Once you have washed your hair and applied styling cream, let your hair air dry. You may use a diffuser at this stage, but air drying is often the best solution for curly. Once your hair is dry, you can run your fingers through your hair to style and loosen up your curls. If you want a more settled look, you can skip running your fingers through the hair for a more manageable style.
